Taking Thanksgiving
I hope all my loyal readers (hi mike!) had a great Thanksgiving Day! I know, its getting really late but I’m still a little wired after sampling some of Stephen’s coffee that he roasted. Since I’m 24 and my growth has most likely come to a halt, I think I can now safely drink coffee without it effecting my growth potential. Not too bad for my first cup of coffee. My plan is to stay up for the remainder of the night so I can get to Best Buy at a reasonable hour (i.e. 5:30 a.m.) to capitalize on the sales. Again, I failed to bring home my cell phone charger so I can’t really leave it on all night and expect it to still have power in the morning to sound the alarm. Fortunately, I’m not depending on my phone to not hear from a prospective buyer of my car.
With such a busy day planned for tomorrow, I would have liked to have done a little bit less today. Since we had company over my mom was a bit stressed so my dad thought that I should help with the "preparations." The preparations consisted of me raking leaves for about 15 minutes in the backyard, picking up drinks and ice at K-Mart, and peeling nine potatoes (4 sweet and 5 white). Extremely daunting. While peeling the potatoes, I think my mom got the impression that it wasn’t really what I wanted to be doing. Maybe saying, "This is a women’s job" cued her in. I’m not sure. But at one point she reminded me that it used to be the man’s job to hunt and prepare the turkey. I’m sure hunting the turkey would have been fun, but seeing that I can barely whistle while awake, I don’t think that I would be very successful with a turkey call, thus resulting in a Thanksgiving Day dinner with only sides. (perfect for you vegan readers) My small tasks helped me realize how little I have to do because of how much God has blessed me with. All of us have so much to be thankful for. Well, Happy Thanksgiving!!
p.s. I hope everyone liked the potatoes.
